Responsibilities

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

 

Job Summary

Work under the direction of the Engineering Department Management and with the Engineering Department as a whole to provide TMI customers with quality traffic control plans within the required timeframe. Provide assistance to Engineering Associate I & II co-workers as assigned.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare base plans
  • Provide traffic control layouts
  • Perform plan production
  • Perform project site verification to assist with base plans and/or traffic control layouts
  • Drive TMI vehicles to job-sites and perform job-site analysis including taking photographs
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and/or Engineering Manager dealing with work distribution
  • Prepare plan revisions based on customer and/or public agency feedback
  • Prepare complex base plans
  • Provide complex traffic control layouts including multi-phase and multi-jurisdictional plans
  • Perform complex project site verification to assist with complex base plans and/or complex traffic control layouts
  • Assist with plans produced by an Engineering Associate I with regards to plan checking and/or design assistance
  • Assist with training of Engineering Associates I & II
  • Perform all of the job requirements of an Engineering Associate I & II listed above, as well as the following:
  • Prepare the most complex base plans, including signal, striping, and street lighting
  • Provide complex traffic control layouts including multi-phase and multi-jurisdictional plans and for signal, striping and street lighting plans
  • Perform complex project site verification to assist with complex base plans and/or complex traffic control layouts including for signal, striping, and street lighting
  • Perform plan checking and/or provide design assistance for plans prepared by Engineering Associate I & II co-workers
  • Assist with training of Engineering Associates I & II
  • Provide feedback on plan reviews for supervisor documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Required Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of the Windows environment
  • Strong knowledge of the Office Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Strong knowledge of Google Earth, Google Maps and Thomas Guide
  • A strong proficiency using AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of large construction documents and how to read them
  • Advanced knowledge of traffic control requirements including k-rail design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Requires remaining in a seated position for prolonged periods of time
  • Requires lifting up 20lb
  • Requires repetitive movement
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner

 

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 12 months as an Engineering Associate II with TMI or equivalent experience in Traffic Control Design

PAY:

The pay range for candidates who will work in Long Beach, CA is $22.00-$30.00 per hour. The final pay rate offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type, and years of experience within the industry, education, etc. Traffic Management, Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this Salary range may not reflect positions in other states.
